Finding Peace

Do not fear your past or who you are.
Forgive yourself and walk on.
Accept others, as they are

and forgive them
           all their wrongs.

for they, too, like you
                     are wounded.

Accept the world as it is.
Your restless ways belong to love.
The caring comfort God can make
will restore your soul in love.

In your deepest longing know
God can bring you home again.
I understand you can not see

this has always been:
         You are
                already
                        home
                              and
                                   have always been.

You may live your life on earth
You may even press for change,
risking what you feel you can
for yourselves and each other.

Nevertheless, remember:
     Your life's meaning lies
            in my love for you.

Wind Song

I sing crazy songs,
hoping all will hear.
Wind sweeps the shore.
Salty air touches me.
Green shutters slam
on a misty dawn.
A thick storm rising
cries a wind song
only periwinkles hear.

Despair

Brittle leaves swirling,
branches stripped bare,
grey fingered limbs
reach to hollow despair.
Empty I stare.

Stones whisper.
I sit among them,
a wisp of fire smoke,
embers glowing then gone
in incidental frailty.

A heart with no love
knows despair.
Its richness
swept to crumbling leaves
on a chill November day.

Love's Fire

Day's End

Sunlight painting
the tenement next door
fades into the alley's shadow.

Playing a haunting melody,
a saxophonist captures me
from a window open below.

I huddle on iron steps,
leaning into the wall -
the fire escape,

       my concert hall.

Nova Scotia Evening

My steps in a thickening dusk are lost
along the bottom of an aged forest floor
where darkness covers branch and moss.
I walk where few have gone before.

Hemlocks gathering before the wind
growing in darkened stands, limbs outright
and densely locking, harboring each its find --
its comfort within the embracing night.

A tree lies fallen in twisted branches.
Lichens creep as pale green sprites.
Hemlock yields to an earthen might.
In stillness, emerald moss advances.

Thrashing brush, wings beat in flight.
An owl awakens to begin the night.

Eternal Now

With silent minds we meet
in the sun by your kitchen door,
our moment now serene,
we hear the cry of your child,
and so much more.

Her Potential

Soaring high and free,
her sweet golden fire
melts winter's snow.
Deep in many hearts,
love is her firey flame,
beauty her inspiration.

Come Home to Me

Wind whispers in awareness.
Forever there is no time like now.
Feel free to ask me what I see.
Seeking comfort in compassion
and the deepest understanding,
we crave the constancy of love
